Homegoing Services will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Apostle Cecilia Grimsley, Eulogist and Bishop Jimmy Tyson, Officiating. Visitation will take place from 12:00 noon until the time of service.

Teddy Lewis “Spiro” Burns, age 67 of Dickson, departed from this life on December 21, 2021.

He was born on March 14, 1954 in Nashville, TN to the late Ernest Lee and Alice Lucille Brown Burns. He was raised in Lebanon, TN by William “Buckshot” and Beatrice Johnson.

He graduated from North High School. Teddy was a Tow Motor Driver for many years for Tennessee Pride. He was baptized in the Paris Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Patricia Nell Burns on July 17, 1995.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Burns was preceded in death by his brothers: Charles Freeman, Richard Brown, William Conyers, David Burns, Gary Burns, and Allen Jackson; and his sisters: Helen Brown, Dora Burns, Felicia Wells, and Norma Fryerson.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife of over 27 years: Patricia Nell Burns; his children: Londie Odom, Prentice Odom (Misty), Lisa Neal (Frank), Brandy Burns, Brad Travis, Tabitha Burns, Leroy Cathy (Lisa), and Corey Cathy (Derrick); eight grandchildren, and a host of greatgrandchildren. Also surviving are his brothers: Ernest Burns (Linda), Raymond Burns (Cernovia), Isaac Williams (Penny), Michael Burns (Patricia), Gene Burns (Johnell), and Ronnie Brown; his sisters: Linda Shelmire, Shiley Burns-Franklin, Marlene Coleman (Donnell), Teresa Tolbert, Teena Strickland, Retha Fryerson, Patricia Patterson, Joyce Lytle; and a host of nieces and nephews; as well as devoted friends: David Nuxoll, Pat Warden, and Bonnie Gilliam, among others.
