Terrell Frederick Barrett, also known by family and friends as Terry or TayTay, age 76 of Dickson, TN passed away on July 4, 2024, at Tri-Star Horizon Medical Center.

He was born in Putnam County, son of the late William T. “Bill” and Louise Terrell Barrett.

He was a graduate of Dickson High School, class of 1965 and later attended Tennessee Tech University where he was a 1969 graduate. TayTay taught school for several years and loved his time in education followed by other jobs in Dickson.

In retirement, he cherished his weekly lunches with old friends in the ROMEO club. He proudly served as Rotary President 1977-78. TayTay was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Dickson.

He was the first person to receive a golf scholarship from Dickson County. TayTay was an avid golfer who won many golf tournaments during his years of golfing.

He was married to the love of his life Debbie for 51 years. There was simply nothing more important in his life than his family. Loved having “Friday Night Lights” hangouts and Sunday dinners weekly with his family.

In his downtime, he loved movies, music and sports and enjoyed taking long ATV rides with his two beloved dogs, Rikki and Zeke. TayTay had a great love for all animals and the outdoor beauty in nature.

Terry is survived by his wife, Debbie Martin Barrett, his three sons; Scott Barrett and his wife Lindsay, Keith Barrett and his wife Drea and Quent Barrett and his wife Christy, his sister, Glynda Barrett Pendergrass, his grandchildren; Griffin Barrett, Emory Barrett, Rowan Barrett, Evan Barrett, Ean Barrett, Addy Barrett, Noah Anglin, Julia Anglin, Greyson Barrett, Myers Barrett and Ella Grace Barrett, his great-grandson Bryce Anglin, his mother-in-law; Anita Duke Martin, his brother-in-law; Johnny Martin and his wife Darlene, also survived by several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law; John E.”Pat” Martin.

Family and extended family will gather very privately and quietly soon to remember and reflect on Terry’s life. There is no public visitation planned. Terry’s family is most appreciative of the love and prayers that have been said on their behalf and ask that your thoughts and prayers continue for them as they say their final goodbyes in the days ahead.
