Dickson County Fair

Begun in 1924 as a means of preserving the county’s rich agricultural history, the Dickson County Fair has become a fun event for families and a means to educate the public about agriculture and how food is brought to market.

This year the fair offers carnival rides, livestock shows, pageants, food, a demolition derby, a jump and run, a truck pull, and lots of vendors.

The Fair began Thursday, August 31 and runs through September 4. Here’s what’s in store for the rest of the fair.

Forty Dollar Car Load Day will take place on Sunday September 3. This is an extraordinary savings. Gates will open at 11:00 a.m. and rides start at noon. The $40 will pay for everyone in your car, pick-up truck or van, as well as all rides, and parking for the day. The gates close at 4:00 p.m. and reopen at 5:00 p.m. with regular admission charges, unless you have a hand stamp from earlier in the day, then admission will be half price. In the evening, the exhibits will open at 5:00 p.m. Mr. and Miss Tiny Pageant will take place at 5:30 p.m. for boys and girls between the ages of newborn to 23 months old. That will be followed at 7:30 p.m. by the Mr. and Miss Petite Pageant for those boys and girls between the ages of 24 and 47 months. The Jump and Run will also start at 7:30 p.m. Jump and Run is like motocross, but using small cars.

Fair activities will be rounded up on Monday, September 4. The Cattle Show will begin at 6:00 p.m. and Miss Dickson County Fairest of the Fair for girls between the ages of 16 and 20 will start at 6:30 p.m. The Jump and Run will get going at 7:30 p.m.

Unless otherwise noted, the gates open to the general public at 5:00 p.m. and close at 9:00 p.m. Saturday and Sunday the gates open earlier. Ticket prices vary by day. Check out their Facebook page for daily pricing. A $30 armband ride pass is available every day. Children ten and under are free when accompanied by an adult.

The fairgrounds are located at 1053 Highway 47 East in Dickson, Tennessee.
