Robert Neill Milam, Sr., age 75, of Burns, TN passed away peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side.

Neill was born in Dickson County to the late E.L. “Bill” and Helen Marie von Schmittou Milam.

He was a graduate of Dickson County High School, Class of 1966. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy Reserve. He attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where he received his B.S. and later received his master’s degree in business administration.

Neill was a Dickson County businessman involved in the lumber business where he served as President of Vanleer Hardwoods prior to his retirement. He loved Dickson and serving his community. He was a former member of the Dickson County Rotary Club and a Paul Harris Fellow. He served on several bank boards and advisory boards. He was also a board member of the Greater Dickson Gas Authority. Neill was a longtime member of Dickson First Methodist Church where he was a former member of the Pioneer Class.

Neill and his family shared a great love for each other. Nothing was more important to Neill than being with his family. He was a devoted husband and father. Becky was the love of his life and he thought Rob and Amanda hung the moon. The name he was most proud of was “Big Neill”, which his grandchildren called him. Big Neill was their biggest supporter and loved attending their games, tournaments, and recitals.

Neill had that quiet, funny wit about him that made friends everywhere he went. He was an avid golfer and loved his time on the golf course with friends. Neill was a huge supporter of the Tennessee Vols. He always enjoyed watching games with friends and family. Neill was always up for a shopping trip and a good Italian meal.

Neill is survived by his wife of 50 years, Becky McMullan Milam of Burns, TN, his son, Robert Neill (Rob) Milam, Jr. and his wife, Kim of Dickson, TN, his daughter, Amanda Milam Ricciardi and her husband, Jason of Nashville, TN, his brother, Joe Bates and his wife Linda of Clifton, Texas, his five grandchildren, Robert Neill Milam (Trey) III, Anna Claire Milam, Grant Joseph Ricciardi, Annalise Milam Ricciardi and Peter Trenton (Trent) Ricciardi.
