A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM on Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Taylor Funeral Home. Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 PM until the time of service.
Mr. Doug Gatlin, age 88 of Burns, TN died on August 22, 2021.
Mr. Gatlin was born November 20, 1932, in Fayetteville, TN. He was a son of the late John Lee Gatlin and Ernestine Lane Gatlin. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and served on the USS Bushnell. Doug was in law enforcement for several years, serving both Dickson Police Department and Tennessee Highway Patrol. In later years, he worked as an insurance agent.
Survivors include his wife, Brenda Chappell Gatlin, a son, Rex Douglas Gatlin (Pamela); a stepdaughter, Shelley Hall (Mark) and her son, Garrett; a sister, Brenda Wright; grandchildren, Mickey Bowker (Natalie), Michelle Sheperd (Toby), Matt Denness (Tiggy), Raven Gatlin, and Austin Gatlin; great-grandchildren, Alyissia Denness, George Denness, Noah Denness, Oliver Denness, and Isaac Denness. He was preceded by a daughter, Rhonda Lee Bowker; and by two sisters, Thelma Moore and Margie Taylor.
