A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at 6:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Bro. Donnie Craig officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service.
Brenda Elaine Chappell Gatlin, age 75, of Burns, TN, passed from this life on December 8, 2021 at NHC of Dickson under the care of Caris Hospice, with her daughter Shelley by her side.
Brenda was born on November 28, 1946 to the late George A. and Shirley M. Garton Chappell in Dickson, TN. She was a 1964 graduate of Dickson High School. She was married to the love of her life, the late Alton Douglas Gatlin for 31 years upon his passing on August 22, 2021.
Brenda began her career at the Tennessee Hospital Association in 1968 and held various titles there before retiring as Director of Client Services for Clinical and Professional Practices over 40 years later.
Brenda loved her family and friends dearly and deeply and was loved by all who were blessed to have known her. She loved traveling, gardening, reading, and horses. She also loved to sing and loved Tennessee Titans football. She loved everything Christmas and could decorate the most beautiful trees. She was a proud breast cancer survivor.
Survivors include her daughter Shelley M. Hall (Mark) of Burns, TN; her grandson: Garrett Hall of Burns, TN; her bonus son: Rex Gatlin and wife Pam of Burns, TN; two brothers: Terry Chappell of Nashville, TN and Randy Chappell (Beverly) of Burns, TN; one niece: Amy Armstrong; and one nephew: Brad Chappell; as well as several bonus grandchildren whom she loved dearly as well.
