Dennis Edward “Goober” Cathey, age 59 of Charlotte, TN passed away at home with family by his side on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
Mr. Cathey was born on August 28, 1965 in Dickson, TN, a son of the late James Edward Cathey and the late Virginia Mai Johnson Cathey.
He was a hard worker, skilled in masonry and woodworking. He deeply enjoyed life and will be remembered for always expressing his memorable smile. Mr. Cathey loved people, those in his family and his community. He had a heart of gold, a desire to help those less fortunate. He enjoyed being part of the Frog Pond community in White Bluff, more specifically participating in community events such as horseshoe tournaments to benefit people in need. Mr. Cathey was a big family man, he loved his wife and children, they were his three angels. His granddaughters were his pride and joy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jackie Cathey, Glen Cathey, and James Anthony “Catfish” Cathey.
Mr. Cathey is survived by his loving wife, Tina Rose Herrell Cathey; his two daughters, April Rose Harper (Dereck Myles Thompson), and Michelle Rae-Cathey Crowder (Michael Eric Crowder); two brothers, Watson Cathey, and Darrell Cathey; 5 granddaughters, Hailey Marie Harper, Allyson Kayte Crowder, RubyMae Lindsey Crowder, Mackenzie Brooke Harper, June Riley Crowder.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Monday, February 17, 2025 at the Taylor Funeral Home. The burial will follow in the Nosegay Cemetery in White Bluff, TN. The visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. https://taylorsince1909.com
