Frieda-Ann-Higgins-Evaskis

On November 5th, 2022, Frieda Ann (Higgins) Evaskis took her final trip, this time where no one could ever bother her again.

Born in Honolulu, Hawaii on March 18th, 1957 to Frank Christian Higgins and Helen Lum, she was a dearly beloved only child. Attending Punahou School, her life took her in a different direction after her father died in 1972.

Eventually, after being a Kodak hula girl and traveling hither and yon, she joined the Air Force where she became an Airman First Class and worked on equipment from the U2 Spy Plane.

After she left the service, she worked at the Precision Measurements Laboratory on United States Army Kwajalein Atoll, supporting the Star Wars program. As part of that duty, she was responsible for tracking the Challenger space shuttle on what turned out to be its final, ill-fated flight.

After having her first child and meeting “Steve the Bleeder,” a tall, clumsy gentleman who she decided was worth keeping around, she moved to Tennessee where over the course of 30+ years she worked for AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Sypris Test and Measurements, and finally EML Calibration. During this time, she held a variety of positions including Mobile Lab Calibrator, Calibration Lab Supervisor, and Quality Manager.

But all of this was secondary to her real passion: her crafts and her children. Frieda ran CJFS Enterprises with her younger daughter, and together, they frequented the local craft circuit, selling fairy lamps, jewelry, embroidered Christmas ornaments, and whatever else struck their talented whimsy.

Frieda was also a member of the Fairview FCE with her younger daughter and regularly bowled in a no-tap league. Nevertheless, she made time every Thursday to Skype with her oldest child, catching up on the week’s events and watching TV together. To Frieda, her family was everything.

Predeceased by her mother and father, she is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Steven Edward Evaskis, her two children Christiane (Bob) Helene Kwai Fah Higgins Evaskis-Garrett and Julia Marie Evaskis, and her closest friend Virginia Woody.

She loved the color red.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Taylor Funeral Home in Dickson, TN from 2:00 pm until 3:00 pm. A funeral service will immediately follow visitation and begin at 3:00 pm. http://taylorsince1909.com

In lieu of flowers, mourners are encouraged to donate to Vanderbilt – Ingram Cancer Center.

The family would also like to thank Avalon Hospice for their help during this time.
