John Richard Cullom, age 54, of Dickson, Tennessee died Sunday morning, February 27, 2022 at his home with his family by his side.

John was born August 3, 1967 to the late James Robert and Kathryn Petty Cullom.

John loved his family greatly and was an avid sports fan. He followed the New England Patriots since the late 80s and the TN Volunteers since birth. His true love was coaching. He coached the Tennis team at Creekwood from 2011 to 2018, the Volleyball team at Creekwood from 2015 to 2017, and the Burns Middle School Volleyball team from 2019 to 2021.

John was a graduate of Dickson Co. Senior High School, class of 1985. He later went on and attended Austin Peay University and received his B.S. degree.

John truly put his heart and soul into coaching, and he loved his players like they were his own family. He was a Bobcat through and through. You knew he was in full coaching mode when he turned his hat backward followed by the “stance”; hands on the hips and feet spread just far enough so he could take that hat off and throw it down to argue what he saw as a bad call.

John also had a very political side to him. Two words will sum it all up. “Trump 2024” He was known as a man that would speak his mind.

He also loved fishing. Above all, he was a man of God, a husband, a father, a son, a coach, and a teacher. John was a Special Education Teacher at Burns Middle School.

He is survived by his wife; Dayna Chadwick Cullom, His children; Blake Harp (Kristie), Zane Cullom, Riley Cullom, Boone Cullom; Mother; Kathryn Petty Cullom, His favorite Aunt; Lucy Fox (Buddy), Sister-in-law; Stacey Little (Patrick), His Nieces; Madelyn Little and Dallas Little, Grand Dogs; Flynn and Newt, His dog and “best friend” Madison, many other aunts and uncles, and Every Player he coached.

Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon, March 6, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Bro. John Vaughn will officiate. Visitation will be on Sunday beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of service. http://taylorsince1909.com
