Mattie Louise Herbison Fleet, age 91, of Vanleer, TN passed away peacefully on February 23, 2025, at Tri-Star Horizon Medical Center.
Louise was born in the Sugar Creek Community of Hickman County and was the daughter of the late Jessie Hickman (Jake) and Gladys Josephine Bell Herbison.
Louise has been married to Jack Robert Fleet for 73 years. She was preceded in death by a son Danny Ray Fleet and a sister Geraldine Waynick and a brother James Russell Herbison.
Louise was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was a hard worker and enjoyed it. She loved raising her kids and being a homemaker but truly loved farming. Over the years, raising all kinds of vegetables in her garden but she excelled as a tobacco farmer. She loved tilling the land and living off of it. Another love Louise had was genealogy, especially family history.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Robert Fleet, her two sons, Doyle Fleet and David Harold Fleet and his wife Arlene, her sister, Letha Davis and her husband Joe, her grandchildren, Jamie Amis and husband Anthony, Johnathan David Fleet, Amanda Hartman, Charles Hartman, Stephanie Hartman and Kenneth Waynick, her great-grandchildren, Alexis Slate, Paige Slate, Lily Amis, Knox Amis and Kansas Hartman, her only great- great-grandchild, Kyler Jacob.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday morning, February 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Tommy Marvin will give her eulogy. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening, February 25th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
