Phillip R. Simons, age 78, of Jacksonville, FL formerly of Dickson, TN died April 6, 2023 in the Baptist Medical Center North of Jacksonville, FL

Phil was born in Dickson County and was the son of the late Haley Roach Simons and Mable Hargrove Simons.

He was a graduate of Dickson High School in the class of 1962. Soon after graduation, he married the love of his life Nancy Carroll Frost. They have been married for 61 years.

At an early age, Phil enlisted with the United States Air National Guard where he served some 42 years. He had a passion for his military service and proudly served his country. He retired as a Senior Master Sergeant.

Phil was a longtime Dickson County businessman. He owned and operated the Simons Cee Bee Food Store in Charlotte for many years. Phil served his community for some 20 years as the Dickson County Court Clerk. He loved the people of Dickson County and appreciated the years they allowed him to serve.

After retirement, he and Nancy moved to Florida to soak up that good healthy Florida sunshine. Phil loved collecting anything collectible.

He was a loving husband and an amazing dad to his two daughters and a great grandad to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Phil was born with a contagious smile and a giving and compassionate heart. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Haley Dale Murphy.

Phil is survived by his wife; Nancy Frost Simons of Jacksonville, FL, his two daughters; Shauna Murphy and Shelly Simons both of Jacksonville, FL, his sister; Barbara Tidwell of Nashville, TN his two grandchildren; Hannah Murphy McConnell and her husband Dalton and Phillip Joseph Larkin, his great-grandchildren; Mila Rose McConnell, Marlee Dale McConnell and McKinley Rhea McConnell.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, April 15, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. from the chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home. Dan Erranton will officiate. Military honors will be observed. Visitation will be on Friday, April 14th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday beginning at 2:00 p.m. until time of service. Place of rest will be in the Dickson County Memorial Gardens. http://taylorsince1909.com
