Walter Carl Odom, age 86, of White Bluff, passed from this life on June 1, 2024, in his home surrounded by family.
He was born on February 10, 1938, in Davidson County to the late William Walker Odom and Hazel Griggs Odom.
He is a member of the Hickory Wood Church of Christ.
Walter wore many hats and held several titles throughout the years. He was a minister for over 25 years and retired as a truck driver for Humboldt Express. He was also a farmer, welder, mechanic, and figure 8 dirt track racer. He was married to his wife, Linda, for 67 years upon her passing in November of 2023.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Odom was preceded in death by his wife: Linda Faye Lawrence Odom; his sister: Jean York; his grandson: David Odom; and great-grandson: Patrick Williams.
Survivors include his son: Craig Odom (Pam); his daughters: Kandy Willbanks (Matt) and Sherry Cranfield; his siblings: Jeff Odom (Cheryl), Kim Milliken, Joan Phelps, Janet Pomeroy (Robert), and Mary Ann Chasteen; his grandchildren: Nicholas Cranfield (Angel), Chad Cranfield (Rachel), Christen Herndon (Michael), TJ Bennett (Tate), Samantha Bennett, Camilla Odom (Michael), Craig Odom, Justin Bennett, Brandon Odom (Kayla), Charlie Willbanks (Tonya), Elizabeth Willbanks, Brittany McCoy, Angela Poole, and Brandon Poole; as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Taylor Funeral Home with Chad Cranfield officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, from 12 noon until the time of service.
